The West Hill

Artists & Exhibitions

The West Hill is a great gallery space for local artists to exhibit – and also sell – their works.

Our current displays are:

Paper Collage by Sarah Pain –

Social commentary through cut and stick … Kittens and death; technology and flowers. The juxtaposition within collage reflects the ridiculousness of modern life. Remember – Collage: It’s not just for the mentally ill.

Past Lives by Nhung Dang –

In this series of pinhole portraits, Nhung’s techniques and composition captures the spirit of the early photographers. All of the photos were taken with a homemade camera fashioned from a biscuit tin, shot onto a photographic paper negative. This process requires long exposures; each subject has to pose completely still from as little as 20 seconds to as long as 8 minutes. Each photograph seems as though it could have been extracted from another era, creating a dreamlike sense of nostalgia for a time that’s maybe never been experienced.
